Mechanical engineer Zahiduzzaman Tanvin used to dream that the drone he built would fly in the skies of the country and abroad. This colorful dream was his main source of survival. But his dream was shattered in an instant. He was martyred by a bullet during the July-August movement. Mother Bilkis Zaman could not even say goodbye to her beloved child for the last time.
Tanveen was shot dead on the afternoon of July 18 while trying to withdraw money from a bank ATM booth in Azampur, Uttara, in the midst of a clash between police and quota reform protesters. She died on the spot. The police bullet pierced the side of her neck and exited. There were numerous shrapnel marks on her chest.
"I never imagined my son would leave like this," Tanveen's mother Bilkis Zaman (45) broke down in tears as she described her son's death.
Zahiduzzaman Tanvin (24) lived in a rented house in Jamtala, Uttara's Azampur Raw Market, with his housewife mother Bilkis Zaman and engineer father Shamsuzzaman.
